This is Phlagg (pronounced like "FLAG") and she is a fm Green Western Hognose.:) I picked her up at the Herptile show on 4-25. I was originally gonna get one of Checkers brothers but this other vendor had 5 of the green morphs and they were only $10 more then what I paid for Checkers...couldn't pass that up! :) So Checkers now had a future girlfriend.

She is getting ready to shed any day now so this shot really doesn't do her justice...the dullness of the pre-shed doesn't show off her true colors. Once she sheds I will post pictures of her post shed.:)

Oh she just shed the other day too! I am hoping to get some shots of her this weekend...her color is just stunning.:) And hers and Checkers personality is the greatest. They are both so laid back. Actually all of the Western hognoses I handled seem to be...so it makes me wonder why they aren't more popular. They only thing I can thing of is that maybe other people are afraid to get them b/c of their mild venom. But even with that in reading and talking to others the chance of getting bitten by them is slim to none. If they do strike out in defense it's usually with a closed mouth too. Everything is a bluff with these snakes. And they really aren't that much $$$ for a normal or for some of the morphs. I got Checkers for $50 and Phlagg for $65. Aside from Corn snakes I don't think there are many others out there that you can get a nice morph for under $100. Even my husband said that these guys are comparable in personality to ball pythons and I would be a fool if I didn't start breeding them. I guess I am gonna have to try everything I can to spread the word on them and how nice they are.:)

Oh and some of those videos are AWESOME! I gotta spend more time checking them out.:) Thanks for the link. :)

I don't know what it is about them, they just draw you in. I'd love to have a collection of them

I am quickly getting a collection of them...seems like I truly am hooked on them. One thing tho. If you do end up getting some make sure you house them separately...they have been known to cannibalize each other!

Oh she just shed today! I just fed her so I have to wait a few days until I can take her out. But WOW her color is REALLY nice.:)
