Thanks. I try to get what I can when I am not needed to help out myself. Usually there are so many people that show up to help out that I can hang back sometimes and get some shots.
I have been a volunteer since early 1999. We have guys on my dept that are also paid elsewhere but honestly I think the volunteer guys have more guts then the paid. We go into burning building for free! The paid guys usually get to see more fires then we do b/c they work for the larger cities but the fires we see aren't any colder then theirs. We go through the same training but we don't get as much action..only difference. BTW the link you sent didn't load. Resend it if you can.
It's very nice. Did anything become of the logo? Thanks for picking the Fallen Firefighter Fund. Sad thing is that even with all of the training lives are still being lost. Most are deaths that don't even occur during fires. Most happen either responding to calls or right after...from the adrenaline rush causing heart attacks! Thankful though there is an organization that is funding free physical exams to both paid and volunteer fire fighters. It was started by a wife of a ff that was outwardly extremely fit and yet he died of a heart attack right after a call..he was only 32 yrs old.
Cheers
